What I Do
I am a psychotherapist with a full-time private practice in Guilford, Connecticut. It has been my privilege to provide individual and marital psychotherapy to people here in Connecticut since 1984. I also provide clinical supervision and case-consultation to other therapists who are wanting to further develop their skills.
As a psychotherapist, I help people reduce their suffering and find some peace of mind. How to do that is what I have spent the better part of the past three decades learning and practicing and refining.
If you are looking for a therapist, contact me. If I can’t help you directly, I will do my best to help you find the help you need.
Who I Help
There’s an old joke:
Q: “How many therapists does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: “Only one. But the light bulb has really got to want to change.”
What I love about that joke is that in a few words it gets at something essential about psychotherapy. I work with people who really want to change their lives, and for whom something is missing or off kilter . Here are some of the issues that I often hear about:
Loneliness:
Relationships with family, friends and colleagues gone awry.
Anxieties:
Worries about the future.
Depression:
The hopeful future, obscured by a melancholy present.
Trauma:
The present, haunted by the past.
Compulsions:
The loss of self-control that leads to a loss of self.
Tragedy:
Life circumstances that are (almost) impossible to bear.
Soul Sickness:
The loss of awe and wonder.
Boredom:
The fear of taking risks.
